Antique 1890-1900 Claret Jugs Pair Hand Cut Anglo-Irish Crystal Glass & Sterling Silver
For your consideration is an outstanding pair of 19th century liqueur jugs
All hand made Anglo-Irish crystal glass of highest quality
Stylish form and design, with hobstars and diamond cut crosshatching
Stand on raised feet, decorated with stars
Sterling silver mounts, lids and handles
All silver pieces are clearly hallmarked with J.G. & S hallmark for John Grinsell & Sons ( 1871-1905). The firm started in 1864 as Grinsell & Bourne and operated from Birmingham, with show rooms also in London, and it was specialized in the manufacture of silver-mounted glass, stoneware and ceramic items. In 1905 it became John Grinsell & Sons Ltd. until 1920's

Condition:
Very Good overall. Please see photos. One has a chip at the base and its sterling lid separates, due to breakage of the hinge. The other has only a minor, unobtrusive flake on the underside of the base.  All original
