Silver deposit glass was first made during the late nineteenth century.
Solid sterling silver is applied to the glass by a chemical method so that a cutout design of silver metal appears against a clear or colored glass.
The technique was used to make pieces in the Art Nouveau style that were popular from the 1890s to about 1920.
It is not the same as silver overlay, which is thin designs of sheet metal applied over glass or ceramics.
    Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
The firm began its activity in 1890 with Samuel E. Barnstein and became the National Silver Company before 1904. It had an English division in Sheffield: Cheltenham & Company Ltd (before 1950).
