Description
Antique Gorham Sterling Silver ABP Glass Vanity Perfume Cologne BottlePresented is an antique, sterling silver and cut crystal glass perfume, cologne, vanity or dresser jar or bottle made by Gorham during the very early 20th century. The spherical body is made of thick crystal glass that is cut with classic American Brilliant Period designs. The sterling silver stopper is hand engraved with Art Nouveau style flowers and scrolls surrounding a script monogram of the initials PBL. The glass body was most likely made by Hawkes, as they did a lot of work with Gorham over the years, but it could also be the work of Libby, Tuthill, Sinclaire or any of the other well known glass manufacturers of the time.
This bottle was part of a larger, matching set that we have broken up to sell as individual lots. One of the matching pieces was marked with the Gorham date symbol for the year 1909.
The lid is marked for Gorham and sterling.
This piece is in good overall condition considering its age. There is some minor chipping to the glass on the high points of the cut decorations. There is a chip about the size of the top of your thumb to one side of the bottle and some small chips to the glass on the stopper, but this is not visible when the stopper is in place.
Diameter: 4 inches.
Height: 5 1/2 inches.
Total weight: 643 grams or 1.3 pounds.
