    Antique Persian Hand Painted Mother Of Pearl Shell Pendant Depicting Nomadic Hunting Scene
    2" high x 1-3/8" wide
    Copper frame and loop
    Nice condition with light wear from age and handling.  It was found in a Vermont estate jewelry collection.
    Islamic miniature paintings became important in Persia (modern day Iran) in the 13th century, receiving Chinese influence after the Mongol conquests (principally seen in the faces), and the highest point in the tradition was reached in the 15th and 16th centuries. The tradition continued thereafter under some Western influence to modern times.
    This piece is likely from the earlier 20th century.
