La Pierre Silver Overlay Art Nouveau Decanter, Pitcher, Ewer.***********
This is a beautiful art nouveau silver overlay decanter.
It was created by the La Pierre Co. of N.Y. and N.J. (1888-1929).
It stands 11 1/2" tall and is 4 1/2" across the base.
From decanter's neck down is ribbed which smoothes out midway at overlay.
The lip and handle are covered in silver.
From midway down is thick silver overlay in a stylized grapevine pattern.
There is a heart-shaped cartouche with a "C" or "G" in the design under spout.
The stopper is 5" long with the top 3" in same art nouveau grape pattern.
Both the decanter and the stopper are marked with number 14.
This lovely decanter is marked with "L Sterling" on the base of the handle.
The stopper's glass plug has 2 shallow chips on the end.
There is no other damage or loss to silver and no cracks or other damage to glass.
The glass is mostly clear with faint ring around upper neck where liquid was.
The interior needs a cleaning and more silver polishing if so desired.
There is a small spot on side of neck where adhesive was which can easily be removed.
Wear appropriate to age and use.
