OUTSTANDING ENGLISH GEORGIAN STERLING SILVER WINE FUNNEL LONDON ca1806 LION LOGO

Description

This is an Estate Fresh old Sterling Silver Wine Funnel from a long time collector of High End Sterling Hollowware.  I have purchased part of a huge collection and will be offering it here over the next several weeks.  These pieces are from all over place including Paris UK Germany and here in the US.  This one from London England.
This particular piece is just a stunning Georgian 2 piece Wine Funnel in great form and condition.  The Funnel has 2 parts as pictured, the Screen insert and the outer funnel.  The piece has an etched Lion figure to the outside of the funnel with no exterior monograms or other information other than its hallmarks.  Those are as follow, though sadly, the 1st one is worn and obscure so I cannot see anything to ID which is too bad as this has the makings of being a really good piece by a good maker!  The 2nd is the Lion Sterling Mark, next is the London Lion w a Crown mark, next is the letter O in a square w pointed bottom and lastly is the Duty mark.  The combination of these 4 last marks lead me to believe this piece is from 1809, photo of that chart is included for anyone interested.  The top opening is 2 7/8 though the overall width there is 3 1/8"  The length is 6".  This is an early and high end piece and a wonderful addition to any home or collection.  The interior screen part of this Funnel does have some monogrammed information where it looks to have been handed down to someone back in the 40's, but that info is not visible unless the screen is removed.
