Tiffany Flask 6855 Antique Seahorse Barware American Sterling Silver 1873/91

Description

Rare sterling silver flask. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1882. Oval with curved sides and flat front and back. On front is seahorse with ribbed body and volute-scroll tail floating amongst seagrass. Back engraved with interlaced script monogram. Allover spot-hammered ground. Short neck with ball bearing-style beading. Hinged, threaded, and cork-lined cover. Fully marked including maker's stamp, pattern no. 6855 (first produced in 1882), and director's letter M (1873-91). Condition. Very good with nice patina. Partially effaced maker's stamp due to solder repair.
