    Here are Two Exquisite and Very Early Decanter Coasters Made in London in 1770 in Fully Hallmarked English Sterling Silver
    These Rare Coasters feature Beautiful Pierced Work, Decorative Borders and Turned Fruitwood Bases
    Both Decanter Coasters are in Excellent Condition
    Here are two superb, ornate Georgian Decanter Coasters, of the very earliest type, made London in 1770.
    These elegant and early Decanter Coasters were made in fully hallmarked English Sterling Silver with turned fruitwood bases.
    The Coasters feature intricate pierced work decoration and an ornate strengthening border.
    The Coasters are overall in excellent condition, and have been beautifully restored with new turned fruitwood bases and new green baize – see photographs.

    The Decanter Coasters are four and a half inches across the tops and bases (4.5 ins / 11.5 cms) and four and a quarter inches internally (4.25 ins / 11.0 cms) and are two and a quarter inches tall (2.25 ins / 5.5 cms).
    The maker’s mark is on the silver base and is quite rubbed making identification difficult.
    The other hallmarks shown above are the lion passant guarantee mark for English sterling silver, the leopard’s head crowned the town mark for London, and the Gothic letter “P” the date letter for 1770.
